Operating Hours of the Las Vegas Monorail System: 7am – 2am Monday to Thursday; 7am – 3am Friday to Sunday
Frequency: Trains run every 4-12 minutes along the Las Vegas monorail route so you’re never waiting long. (For the most part you don’t wait longer than 6 minutes.)
Why take the monorail in Las Vegas?
The privately-funded Vegas Monorail is the way to go if you’re visiting Nevada in the height of summer or just want to give your feet a rest.
From the moment we check-in to our hotel there’s no holding my husband back. He’s ready to pound the pavements from morning til late at night. I can keep up for a couple of days but after that my legs begin to protest which is why I love the Monorail!
About the Las Vegas monorail
The Monorail didn’t open until 2004 but we’ve made good use of it since, welcoming the chance to take a load off, enjoying the cool air conditioning and appreciating the cheap fares.
How much does it cost to use the Las Vegas monorail system?
A single ride costs just $5 but if you’re planning to use the Monorail in Las Vegas a lot get the Unlimited Day Pass which costs $12 and lets you travel as much as you like for 24 hours or the Unlimited Three-Day Pass for $28. (Note that online ticket prices and station ticket prices can sometimes vary.)
If you like to have everything ordered and paid for before you make a trip you’ll be pleased to know that you can order your tickets for the monorail through their website but you’ll need to allow 30 days for international delivery and 15 days for delivery within the US (there is a 7 day delivery service to addresses in the US)
If not you can buy tickets when you’re in Las Vegas from the ticket machines which you’ll find at the monorail station resort properties, Vegas Convention Center Central and South Halls. You can pay with cash or card.
Another plus about the monorail is that it’s child-friendly. Not only can you take your stroller on the monorail but children under five ride free. It’s also wheelchair accessible with elevators to all levels.

What exactly is the Las Vegas monorail route?
For the most part the Las Vegas Monorail route takes you behind the hotels on the east side of the Strip so when you get off you have to walk through the hotels to get back on to Las Vegas Blvd.
The Monorail stops at seven stations:
MGM Grand Station
Alight at the MGM Grand Station for access to Hooters and the following hotels: MGM Grand; Mandalay Bay; the Luxor; the Excalibur; New York New York; Tropicana; and the Monte Carlo.
From here you’re within walking distance of: The Lion Habitat; Shark Reef Aquarium; The Rollercoaster; Coca Cola Store and M and Ms World; and Regal Cinemas UA Showcase 8.
Bally’s/ Paris Station
Alight at the Bally’s/ Paris Station for access to the following hotels: Bally’s; Paris; Planet Hollywood; Bellagio and the hotels at City Center.
From here you’re within walking distance to: The Miracle Mile Shops; Crystals at City Center; The Fountains of Bellagio; and the Eiffel Tower.
Flamingo/ Caesars Palace Station
Alight at the Flamingo/ Caesars Palace Station for access to the following hotels: Flamingo and Caesars Palace.
From here you’re within walking distance of: the Flamingo Habitat; Forum Shops; Fall of Atlantis Show; the Colosseum.
Harrah’s/ Imperial Palace
Alight here for access to: Imperial Palace; Harrah’s; Treasure Island; the Venetian; Palazzo; Encore; Wynn; Fashion Show Mall; Mirage; and Rio and Sam’s Town via free shuttles which leave from the station.
From here you’re within walking distance of: Sirens of TI; Venetian Gondola Ride; Grand Canal Shoppes; Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat; Mirage Volcano; Encore Esplanade; Penske Wynn Ferrari Maserati Showroom.
Las Vegas Convention Center Station
Alight here for access to the Las Vegas Convention Center.From here you’re within walking distance of the Las Vegas Visitor Information Center.
Las Vegas Hilton Station
Alight here for access to the Las Vegas Hilton hotel.
Sahara Station
Although the Sahara hotel has now closed you can still access the monorail station.
Alight here for access to the following hotels: Stratosphere and Circus Circus.
From here you’re within walking distance of the Stratosphere Rides; Stratosphere Observation Deck; and the Adventuredome at Circus Circus.
